Dublin Bus route 83 is a high frequency cross city route, linking Finglas, Glasnevin & Phibsboro with Dublin City Centre, then continuing to the southside via Georges Street, Rathmines & Kimmage. In August 2011 the route officially became low floor offering wheelchair access. The route is operated by Harristown Garage, offering at peak times every 10 minutes.
Volvo Gemini VG 24 is seen at the southern end of the route at the 83 terminus in Kimmage on the first day of official low floor operation Sunday 28th August 2011. The route had previously been operated by Volvo Olympians, now displaced to route 17A, with newer low floor Volvo Enviro400's & Gemini's allocated to the 83.

The Volvo Olympian has been the backbone of route 83 for several years, especially when Harristown took over the running of the route from Phibsboro years ago. RV 565 is seen heading northbound.
